HEALING FOODS
Even though I joined my sweetheart @drtituschiu for Saturday brunch, I brought my own food.
.
Chubby cold potatoes, chicken feet broth and extra steeped black tea.
.
At the instruction of my brilliant functional nutritionist friend Laura (@paleoroots.health), I’m trying a new healing approach. The cold potatoes are part of a resistant starch reset diet, aka Potato Hack, to feed my good probiotics without spiking glucose or insulin levels. (Look up Chris Kresser’s article on Resistant Starch if you’re interested!) So far so good!
.
The chicken feet broth was a first for me. Made it last night in my Instant Pot in just over 2 hours. I was a bit squeamish while prepping it, but the result has been much better than my usual bone broth. This is Laura’s modification of the Potato Hack to prevent too much weight loss and aid leaky gut healing. Plus it’s a cozy way to wake up!
.
The extra steeped black tea is for the plant tannins to combat the bad gut bacteria. (Got this information from my GI EFFECTS testing.)
.
